The Raj at Barton on Humber

Dinner with George and Irene

From Burnham we traveled just four miles, fog bound as usual, to a Bangladeshi restaurant in Barton on Humber called Raj. Here we met up for dinner with George and Irene Cane.

George and I go way back to the forties, Marian has known George since the mid-fifties and I believe we three all met Irene about the same time in the early sixties. A lot of water under a lot of bridges.

We visited these guys briefly in 2004 and, at that time, failed to catch up with all the news. This time was little different. We had an interesting and tasty dinner, talked almost incessantly but had tons more to cover when we broke up about 9:00pm. George and Irene returned to Scunthorpe while Marian and I set off south for a foggy two hour ride to Peterborough and the Passport Office. Great reasons for a repeat visit though. My brother's namesake, Ken Harrison who draws the Desperate Dan cartoon, lives there.
